IE8 can be uninstalled by using Add or Remove Programs module in Windows XP, but in Windows Vista, it is a little different.
To uninstall Internet Explorer 8 using Vista, go to the Control Panel and click on the Programs and Features icon. Open the Tasks pane on the left and click on View installed updates. Locate and select Windows Internet Explorer 8 in the list of installed updates and click on Uninstall button. Click on Yes when asked that are you sure want to uninstall the update.
If there is no option for IE8 in Programs and Features or Add or Remove Programs, or you get the following error message (Setup cannot continue because a more recent version of Internet Explorer has been detected on this computer), you will need to run spuninst.exe.
To do this, go to C:\WINDOWS\ie8\spuninst\ folder and run spuninst.exe.
